วันนี้พวกเราจะเที่ยวกันในกรุงบรัสเซลส์ เมื่อคืนคุณป๋าเลยซื้อตั๋ว 1-day travel card : 7,50 €

ใช้โดยสารรถสาธารณะได้ไม่จำกัดเที่ยวภายใน 24 ชั่วโมง (หลังจากเริ่มใช้ครั้งแรก)

The Atomium is a landmark building in Brussels.

It is located on the Heysel Plateau.

Atomium was designed by a Belgian engineer André Waterkeyn and architects André and Jean Polak Built in 1958 for the Brussels World's Fair. The Atomium Bruxelles is the only structure left standing after the event ended. World's fair (or World Expo) is an international event which began as a technology exhibition and later progressed towards national propagation.

The Atomium represents a single unit of iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. There are 9 spheres representing atoms which are connected by tubes with escalators and lifts.

Each sphere is about the size of a large apartment (18m diameter).Tubes of 3 m diameter connect the spheres along the 12 edges of the cube and all eight vertices to the centre. They enclose stairs, escalators and a lift (in the central, vertical tube) to allow access to the five habitable spheres, which contain exhibit halls and other public spaces. The central tube contains the fastest elevator of the time at 5 m/s. It allows 22 people to reach the summit in 23 seconds.
The top sphere includes a restaurant which has a panoramic view of Brussels.

The construction of the Atomium was a technical feat. Of the 9 spheres, 6 are accessible to the public, each with two main floors and a lower floor reserved for service.

Three of the four top spheres lack vertical support and hence are not open to the public for safety reasons, although the sphere at the pinnacle is open to the public.

Arik Levy's stainless steel RockGrowth sculpture

Paris designer Arik Levy has created a bright red steel object to sit beneath the Atomium ,

which reflects the colourful piece in its shiny spheres.

From 2004 to 2007 the atomium was under reconstruction

and was covered with shiny stainless steel instead of faded aluminium that was there since 1958.

The rest of the spheres contain various attractions and can be accessed.

Inside you can see Also a temporary exhibition that is changed about once a year and for the year 2017 it is about a luxury commercial flight of the 20th century.

The other four spheres open to the public are reachable by escalators only, which could be difficult for people with reduced mobility.

There is also a place reserved for events, and a kids sphere for school events. However these are not part of a regular tourist visit.

Arcade du Cinquantenaire (Triumphal Arch)
is a monumental triple arch in the center of the Cinquantenaire park in Brussels.

It is topped by a bronze quadriga sculptural group with a woman charioteer,

representing Brabant raising the national flag.

The Berlaymont is an office building,which houses the headquarters of the European Commission, the executive of the European Union (EU). It is known as the "European Quarter". The unique form of the Berlaymont's architecture is used in the European Commission's official emblem.
